Softball Recap: Capital Cougars vs. Central Kitsap Cougars
Capital couldn't beat Central Kitsap on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the third inning. Capital came up short against Central Kitsap, falling 30-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Capital of the 19-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.
Capital got a big performance out of Lola McKeone, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that McKeone has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Davanee Weide, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Capital and nudges their season record down to 1-9-1. As for Central Kitsap, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.
Looking ahead, Capital will square off against Peninsula at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cougars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Seahawks have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season. As for Central Kitsap, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Mount Tahoma at 6:00 p.m.
