Softball Recap: Mason County Central Has No Trouble Against Bear Lake

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mason County Central). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Bear Lake Lakers on Friday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-8 on Friday.

Mason County Central let Jordyn Melvin and Mikaylah McVicker run wild. Melvin scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while McVicker scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. McVicker also got a hit, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Madi Sherretz, who scored two runs and stole two bases.

Mason County Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

The win got Mason County Central back to even at 2-2. As for Bear Lake, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Mason County Central will be playing at home against Pine River Area at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Bucks have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Bear Lake, they will venture away from home to take on Marion at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
