Preview: North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers vs. FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers
The North Bay Haven Academy Buccaneers and the FAMU DRS Baby Rattlers will face off at 7:15 p.m. on January 13th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses apiece.
North Bay Haven Academy pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wakulla.
Meanwhile, FAMU DRS pushed their score all the way to 63 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 64-63 to Lighthouse Private Christian Academy.
Despite the loss, FAMU DRS saw an underclassman step up: Eric Turral scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Alphonza Gammons was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
North Bay Haven Academy bumped their record down to 1-16 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for FAMU DRS, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
North Bay Haven Academy took their victory against FAMU DRS in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 69-48. Will North Bay Haven Academy repeat their success, or does FAMU DRS have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
