Baseball Recap: Murphy Comes Up Short

Murphy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 27th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 14-3 to the McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellowjackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 back in February.

Murphy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nicholas Thomas, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Those two hits gave Thomas a new career-high.

Murphy's loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for McGill-Toolen, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Murphy will take on Cottage Hill Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cottage Hill Christian Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Murphy's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for McGill-Toolen, they will face off against Mobile Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Mobile Christian has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.31 runs per game on average), something McGill-Toolen will no doubt try to take advantage of.
