Baseball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Eastside Blazers

The Fairfield Falcons will venture away from home to square off against the Eastside Blazers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fairfield will be strutting in after a win while Eastside will be coming in after a defeat.

While Fairfield's victory against LaVille wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Falcons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Lancers on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Lancers: they've now won five in a row.

Andrew Bailey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits.

At the plate, Fairfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Drew Beachy, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Eastside came up short against Edgerton on Monday and fell 7-4. The Blazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Fairfield pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Eastside, their loss dropped their record down to 7-6.

Everything went Fairfield's way against Eastside when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Fairfield made off with a 10-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
