Softball Recap: Cox Beats First Colonial for Their Third Straight Victory

Cox hadn't done well against First Colonial recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Cox walked away with a 6-1 victory over First Colonial. The Falcons' win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ella Athey-Stapleton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emmy Bowen, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Bowen is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

Cox's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for First Colonial, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Cox wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 4-2 defeat against Kellam on the 27th. As for First Colonial, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-4 win against Salem on the 27th.
