Soccer Game Preview: Providence vs. Charlotte Catholic

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence face off against Charlotte Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Providence sitting on six straight wins and Charlotte Catholic on eight.

Providence proved they can win big on Monday (they won by six) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past East Mecklenburg 2-1. Providence's winning goal came courtesy of Madison Detenber.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic kept a clean sheet against East Mecklenburg on Thursday. They blew past the Eagles 5-0. Considering Charlotte Catholic have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Charlotte Catholic pushed their record up to 9-0-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those four games. As for Providence, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
