Basketball Recap: Elliot Christian Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Elliot Christian extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to seven on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-6. The contest between the Eagles and the Rio Vista Rams didn't end well, with the Eagles falling 55-36. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 63-57 on December 2nd.

When it comes to explaining why Elliot Christian lost, don't look at James Lappe. Despite the final result, he shot 40% from the field on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Lappe continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Justus Tokheim, who posted three points along with six rebounds and four steals.

As for Rio Vista, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.2 points over those games.

Rio Vista found their leader in freshman Juan Torres, who went 6-for-10 en route to 20 points. Torres is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 43% in the last three games he's played. Jesse Zucha was another key player, shooting 71% from the field to rack up 10 points and six boards.

Elliot Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Turlock Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026. Rio Vista will take on Millennium in a holiday battle at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
