Shawn Cameron of Carlsbad ran for the longest rushing play in Avocado - West this season against Poway last week. Cameron's team lost to the Titans as he sprinted for 99 yards on the play and finished with 131 in all.
Oceanside extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating La Costa Canyon, 56-0. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Oceanside's Israel Paopao and Mikah Holder have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Paopao has thrown for 1769 yards this season, while Holder, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 30 catches for 596 yards. Carlsbad's Cameron leads the league in rushing yards with 979.
Thadd MacNeal's team's Cameron needs only 21 yards against Vista next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in Avocado - West this week will be when El Camino takes on John Carroll's team. As it stands, the Wildcats are in third, while the Pirates are in first.
Oceanside was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping the Mavericks. The Pirates came in at 20 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
