Recap: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Cheraw Braves
The Lamar Silver Foxes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 55-43 to Cheraw. Lamar has struggled against Cheraw recently, as their contest on Wednesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Lamar's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nygel Eaddy, who scored 11 points. Eaddy continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jacari Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Cheraw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nick Gordon led the charge by scoring 12 points. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Carraway, who scored ten points.
Lamar's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Cheraw, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Lamar will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hemingway at 8:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hemingway is on a three-game streak of home losses, Lamar a 16-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. Cheraw and Silver Bluff will face off at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Silver Bluff is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.1 points per game.
