Baseball Recap: Welsh Find Success

The Welsh Greyhounds earned a 6-1 victory over the Hackberry Mustangs on Monday.

Grant Haydel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Welsh's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ethan Beard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Owen Davis also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Welsh's victory bumped their record up to 17-10. As for Hackberry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-8.

Welsh didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 win against Bell City on the 8th. As for Hackberry, they have also already played their next match, a 14-2 victory against Starks on the 8th.
