Volleyball Game Preview: Willmar Cardinals vs. Apollo Eagles + Official Tickets

Willmar has gone a perfect 10-0 against Apollo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cardinals will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Willmar has six straight wins, Apollo has 28 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Willmar beat Fergus Falls 3-1.

While Willmar might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Fergus Falls scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 21-25, 26-24, 25-19.

Willmar can attribute much of their success to Jordan Blahosky, who had 20 digs and three assists, and Mallory Beier, who had 15 digs. Those 15 digs gave Beier a new career-high. Sydney Zuidema also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

Willmar was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Apollo lost 3-0 to Becker on Thursday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-9, 25-5.

Willmar's victory bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Apollo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-21.

Willmar took their win against Apollo in their previous meeting back in August of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
