Softball Game Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. St. Mary's Knights

The Shadow Mountain Matadors will head out to face off against the St. Mary's Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Mountain has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thunderbird hit Shadow Mountain with a five-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Matadors lost 15-1 to the Titans. The Matadors have struggled against the Titans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, St. Mary's was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Saguaro, falling 16-6.

St. Mary's saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Analysa Mejia, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Izzy Nunez also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Shadow Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for St. Mary's, their loss dropped their record down to 10-15.

Shadow Mountain beat St. Mary's 15-12 in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
