Basketball Recap: Burns Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Emma Wallace and Kaylee Greene

If Burns was feeling good fresh off their 58-19 takedown of Highland Tech last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Burns Bulldogs fell 52-45 to the Crest Chargers on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Burns' loss came despite strong showings from Kaylee Greene and Emma Wallace. Greene posted 22 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals, while Wallace earned seven points along with ten steals and eight boards. Wallace is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Laney Williams, who put up six points and four steals.

Crest found their leader in freshman Josi Downey, who scored 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Downey. Another player making a difference was Corynn Logan, who had nine points.

Burns' loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Crest, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-8.

Burns wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 38-34 victory against Bessemer City on the 7th. As for Crest, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 72-44 defeat against Huss on the 31st.
