Softball Game Preview: Leonard Lancers vs. Olympic Heights Lions

The Leonard Lancers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Olympic Heights Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Leonard came up short against Berean Christian on Thursday, falling 21-13.

Shadia Duarte led a balanced group of hitters, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Arianna Sheerer, who scored a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, everything went Olympic Heights' way against Highlands Christian on Friday as Olympic Heights made off with a 20-5 victory.

Kaitlyn Courtney was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Courtney was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in February of 2024.

In other batting news, Alexa Gleichenhaus was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Ariana Phillips was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Olympic Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .725. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands Christian only posted an OBP of .476.

The win got Olympic Heights back to even at 1-1. As for Leonard, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 1-1.
