Football Game Preview: Leominster Blue Devils vs. Fitchburg Red Raiders + Official Tickets

Leominster is 8-2 against Fitchburg since November of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. After each having a week off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:00 a.m. One thing working in Leominster's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last five games.

Leominster heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup last Friday. They took a hard 48-32 fall against St. John's Prep. The Blue Devils' loss signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Leominster got top-tier performance from Osiris Lopez, who rushed for 179 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry, and also threw for 286 yards and three TDs. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last seven games he's played. Leominster's leading receiver Zackery Oliver was Lopez's top target yet again, picking up 144 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Fitchburg's game last Friday was all tied up 8-8 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They skirted past Ayer Shirley 22-20.

Leominster's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Fitchburg, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.

Everything came up roses for Leominster against Fitchburg in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 46-7 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
