Softball Recap: Largo Wins Going Away Against Countryside

Largo made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Countryside, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Largo Packers were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Countryside Cougars on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Packers, who have now won three matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Laila Weber spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Mia Kabakov was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Miranda Rollins, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Largo and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Countryside, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Largo will square off against Lakewood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Countryside, they will face off against Hollins at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Countryside has given up an average of 14.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
