Jacob Wassler and Donovan Waleskowski secure win for St. Xavier

Recap: St. Xavier Bombers vs. Badin Rams

The St. Xavier Bombers came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They rang in the new year with a 56-48 victory over Badin. Given St. Xavier's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Badin is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading St. Xavier to victory were Jacob Wassler and Donovan Waleskowski. Wassler scored 17 points along with five rebounds, while Waleskowski scored 21 points along with seven rebounds. The matchup was Wassler's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Weber, who scored six points along with five rebounds.

St. Xavier's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Badin, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

St. Xavier will head out on the road to face off against Indian Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Badin, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Archbishop McNicholas at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Archbishop McNicholas focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten last Friday.
