Baseball Game Preview: South Salem Saxons vs. Sprague Olympians

For the second straight game, South Salem will face off against Sprague. The Saxons will take on the Olympians at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Salem will come into the game with an undefeated record on the line.

South Salem is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oregon's top teams: Sprague, who was ranked 17th at the time (South Salem was ranked second). The Saxons had just enough and edged out the Olympians 9-8 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Saxons have posted since April 8th.

The team relied heavily on Sawyer Nelson, who fired off three home runs and six RBI while going 4-for-4. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Teagan Scott, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: South Salem lost a few balls and finished the game with five home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the loss, Sprague broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 11-6. As for South Salem, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-0.
