Volleyball Game Preview: Oconomowoc Raccoons vs. Oak Creek Knights

Oconomowoc is 9-1 against Oak Creek since September of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Raccoons will face off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oconomowoc comes in on 12 and Oak Creek on four.

Oconomowoc is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They came out on top against Brookfield East by a score of 3-1.

Oconomowoc's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jayce Keller led the charge by getting 20 digs and two assists. That's the most digs Keller has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Sage Christman, who had 11 digs and two aces.

Oconomowoc was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Oak Creek made easy work of Indian Trail on Saturday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Oconomowoc better keep an eye on Claire Mank. She was instrumental in Oak Creek's win, getting 12 digs and two aces. Mank is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Oak Creek's victory bumped their record up to 31-16. As for Oconomowoc, their win bumped their record up to 39-2.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Oconomowoc has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.7 aces per game. However, it's not like Oak Creek struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Oconomowoc was able to grind out a solid victory over Oak Creek when the teams last played back in September, winning 2-0. Do the Raccoons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
