Football Game Preview: Marion Center Stingers vs. Conemaugh Township Indians

The Marion Center Stingers will take on the Conemaugh Township Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Conemaugh Township will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Marion Center extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Stingers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat West Shamokin 38-0. With that victory, the Stingers brought their scoring average up to 27 points per game.

Camden Rising was his usual excellent self, throwing for 340 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt, and also punching in one TD on the ground. Those 340 passing yards gave him a new career-high. Alec Brudnock was Rising's top target, picking up 100 receiving yards and one score.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Marion Center proved: they limited West Shamokin to a paltry 2.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Tyler Phillips for the heroic effort on defense: he. Marion Center's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 5.1.

Conemaugh Township hadn't beaten Portage on the road since September 2, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Friday. The Indians took their contest with ease, bagging a 39-6 win over the Mustangs. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Indians had established a 20-point advantage.

Marion Center better keep an eye on Brennan Lohr. He was instrumental in Conemaugh Township's win, rushing for 175 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Greyson Studer, who rushed for 44 yards and one touchdown.

Marion Center's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Conemaugh Township, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
