Softball Game Preview: Boswell Pioneers vs. Keller Indians

The Boswell Pioneers will face off against the Keller Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Boswell's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Keller's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Friday, Boswell came up short against Lake Ridge and fell 8-5.

Boswell saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addy Watson, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Lacey Neighbors also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Keller had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Eagles 21-19.

Keller got a massive performance out of Sydona Meiser, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits Meiser has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenna Jackson, who went 4-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.

Keller was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in eight consecutive matchups.

Keller's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for Boswell, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Boswell beat Keller 9-5 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
