Baseball Game Preview: Simon Kenton Pioneers vs. Campbell County Camels

The Simon Kenton Pioneers will take on the Campbell County Camels at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

While Simon Kenton's victory against Scott wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Simon Kenton had just enough and edged out Scott 6-5. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Tyler Ruete made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Ruete was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Uhl, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Campbell County posted their closest victory since April 18, 2024 on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Newport Central Catholic 4-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Camels.

Simon Kenton's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Campbell County, they now have a winning record of 2-1-1.

Simon Kenton came out on top in a nail-biter against Campbell County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will Simon Kenton repeat their success, or does Campbell County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
