League recap: Deming propelled into state Top 25 after victory

Deming was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Alamogordo. The Wildcats came in at 21 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

Deming and the Tigers played the most hotly contested game in 4A District 3 this week, with Deming eventually emerging with a 29-28 victory. Ismail Garrett ran for 126 yards and caught two passes for 28 yards in the win.

5-foot-10 quarterback A.J. Sedillo of Santa Teresa is the league leader in passing yards this season with 932. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Fernie Holguin's team's Garrett has rushed for 736 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Christian Ramos. The Chaparral star has 35 catches for 426 yards.
