Granada is 9-1 against Dublin since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Matadors will challenge the Gaels at 4:00 p.m. Dublin took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Granada, who comes in off a win.
Granada lost a heartbreaker the last time they played James Logan, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Matadors blew past the Colts 11-2 on Saturday. The Matadors' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ella Vonbergen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits.
At the plate, Kallie Brannon was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Maddie Bittman was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Granada always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Dublin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They fell 11-8 to Monte Vista.
Caitlyn Carr and Lola Villalobos stepped up to the plate in a big way. Carr went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one run, while Villalobos went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Salazar, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Granada's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything went Granada's way against Dublin when the teams last played back in March, as Granada made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Matadors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
