Football Recap: Winter Park Wildcats vs. Edgewater Eagles
If Winter Park was riding high fresh off their 63-8 takedown of Freedom last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Wildcats took a 28-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Edgewater Eagles on Friday. Despite the defeat, Winter Park saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elijah Nickerson rushed for 31 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 136 yards and one TD on only ten passes. Sebastian Lora also helped out with an impressive 107 receiving yards.
Damian Moore was his usual excellent self, rushing for 254 yards and four scores while picking up 10.6 yards per carry for Edgewater. Moore was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 61 yards.
Winter Park's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Edgewater, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winter Park will venture away from home to face off against Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
