Basketball Recap: Pleasant Valley Vikings vs. Crater Comets
Pleasant Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Crater Comets. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 829th in California, while the Comets are ranked 25th in Oregon).

Loss or not, Pleasant Valley got some senior leadership from Anthony Sanchez and Keith Thompson. Sanchez went 6 for 10 on his way to 17 points and five rebounds, while Thompson went 8 of 19 on his way to 18 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Sanchez has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Bensen, who posted six points.
Pleasant Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Crater, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1.
Pleasant Valley and Clovis East will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Crater, they will take on Redmond in a tournament on December 27th.
