Recap: Brookstone Cougars vs. Shaw Raiders
If the Brookstone Cougars were riding high off their 51-30 takedown of the Jordan Red Jackets on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Brookstone took a 49-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shaw.
Brookstone's lost on Monday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carsyn Galligan, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Galligan's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Maggie Yancey was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
Among those leading the charge was Tiara Tucker, who scored 24 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Shaw's points. Another player making a difference was Tanajah Jones, who scored 8 points along with 4 steals.
Brookstone has fallen quite a ways from their 22-7 record last season and are now at 1-3. As for Shaw, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Brookstone will head out on the road to face off against Stratford Academy at 6:00 p.m. on November 28th. Shaw won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Harris County at 3:00 p.m. on November 21st.
