Football Recap: Soap Lake Comes Up Short

Soap Lake had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it six. They were dealt a 53-8 loss at the hands of the Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian Lions. Having soared to a lofty 68 points in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.8 points on average over those games.

Johnny Ferguson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also throwing for 164 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes. He has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played. Treyson Kast was another key player, picking up 103 receiving yards and two scores.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Soap Lake will challenge rival Oroville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Moses Lake Christian Academy/Covenant Christian is set to take on their familiar foe Waterville/Mansfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
