Baseball Recap: Russell Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Russell got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Greenup County Musketeers. This was payback for the Red Devils, who suffered a 2-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Grayson Kiser, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Russell is undefeated when Kiser posts two or more runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Jacob Toliver was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Russell kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Russell's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Greenup County, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Musketeers beat Russell by a score of 10-2 on Tuesday.
