Basketball Recap: Winside Takes a Loss

Winside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss. They took a 68-51 bruising from the Walthill Blujays. The Wildcats were down 63-41 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

When it comes to explaining why Winside lost, don't look at Caleb Offner. Despite the final result, he went 8 for 16 on his way to 22 points along with eight boards and three blocks. Those 22 points gave Offner a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jayden Aschoff, who posted 13 points.

Winside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Walthill, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-8 record this season.

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Winside Wildcats face off against the St. Mary's Cardinals at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Walthill has already played their next contest (against Laurel-Concord-Coleridge), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
