Football Game Preview: Notus Pirates vs. Wilder Wildcats + How To Watch

Notus and Wilder are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2017, but not for long. The Pirates will host the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Notus has given up an average of 41.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Notus will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points last Friday, then bounced right back against Idaho City on Friday. The Pirates came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 42-34. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Mark Lungu had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 268 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Notus: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-4 otherwise.

Lungu was just one part of a punishing run game: Notus was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 329 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 208 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Wilder was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 36-30 to Centennial Baptist. Despite 254 more yards than the Mustangs, the Wildcats couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Notus' victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Wilder, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Notus against Wilder when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 42-0 win. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
