Softball Recap: Cobre Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Cobre gave up the first runs on Friday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past the Eldorado Golden Eagles 19-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.

Bella Saiz made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Saiz was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits.

In other batting news, Ayvah Ortiz was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Isis Dominguez, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Cobre always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .706. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eldorado only posted an OBP of .263.

Cobre pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 16 runs. As for Eldorado, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Cobre will be taking part in a tournament against Las Cruces at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Las Cruces will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Cobre surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eldorado, they will venture away from home to challenge Cibola at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
