Preview: Southwest DeKalb Panthers vs. Clarkston Angoras
Southwest DeKalb is 10-0 against Clarkston since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Southwest DeKalb Panthers will get right back to it and host the Clarkston Angoras at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. The timing is sure in Southwest DeKalb's favor as the team sits on six straight wins at home while Clarkston has been banged up by nine consecutive losses on the road.
Southwest DeKalb can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Druid Hills 69-22 on the road. Given Southwest DeKalb's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 85th, while Druid Hills is ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clarkston suffered their biggest defeat since November 10, 2023 on Tuesday. They were outmatched by Druid Hills at home and fell 61-18. Clarkston was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-8.
Southwest DeKalb has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Clarkston, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.
Everything came up roses for Southwest DeKalb against Clarkston in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-9 win. Will Southwest DeKalb repeat their success, or does Clarkston have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
