Basketball Game Preview: Bleckley County Royals vs. Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes

The Bleckley County Royals will face off against the Monroe Area Purple Hurricanes at 1:30 p.m. on Monday. Bleckley County will be strutting in after a win while Monroe Area will be coming in after a loss.

Bleckley County is headed into the contest having just posted their closest victory since February 21, 2024 on Friday. They skirted past Southwest 39-37. The win was all the more spectacular given the Royals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while the Patriots are ranked 44th).

Meanwhile, Monroe Area fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Oconee County on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 55-53.

Monroe Area has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points per game. As for Bleckley County, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
