Baseball Recap: Boston College High Takes a Loss

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Boston College High finally came back down to earth on Monday. They fell just short of the Catholic Memorial Knights by a score of 4-2. The game marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Boston College High got a good showing from Matt Reardon, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Reardon has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Wyatt Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.

Boston College High's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 4-3. As for Catholic Memorial, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boston College High will take on St. John's Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Catholic Memorial, they will challenge Malden Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lancers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.33 runs per game on average), something the Knights will no doubt try to take advantage of.
