Basketball Game Preview: Cypress Christian Warriors vs. Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions

The Cypress Christian Warriors will square off against the Legacy Prep Christian Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Cypress Christian will head into Tuesday's matchup on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Bay Area Christian on Tuesday. Cypress Christian blew past Bay Area Christian 64-39.

Cypress Christian can attribute much of their success to Charles Rizzutto, who went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points and three steals, and Kolton Kurek, who went 7 for 9 en route to 18 points. The dominant performance gave Rizzutto a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Dawson, who posted no points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Legacy Prep Christian Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against Frassati Catholic by a score of 76-64 on Tuesday.

Legacy Prep Christian Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Cypress Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 13-16.

Cypress Christian might still be hurting after the 72-51 defeat they got from Legacy Prep Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Cypress Christian, Cason Carlson (who went 10 for 13 en route to 25 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time.
