Softball Recap: UMS-Wright Prep Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

20 must be UMS-Wright Prep's lucky number: they beat Chickasaw with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Bulldogs didn't even let the Chieftains on the board, marking the Bulldogs' second-straight 20-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-0 on Tuesday.

Parker Abston made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Abston was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, UMS-Wright Prep got a massive performance out of Kenleigh Hess, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI Hess has posted since back in March of 2025. Marilyn Grace Cook was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

UMS-Wright Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .853. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chickasaw only posted an OBP of .000.

UMS-Wright Prep has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 20.0 runs this season. As for Chickasaw, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. UMS-Wright Prep will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against McGill-Toolen at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chickasaw, they will host Pine Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
