Preview: Lee County Yellow Jackets vs. Hoke County Bucks
The Lee County Yellow Jackets will head out on the road to challenge the Hoke County Bucks at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee County is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.
Last Friday, Lee County was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 54-48 to Southern Lee. Lee County has not had much luck with Southern Lee recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite their loss, Lee County saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ronnie Hooker, who scored 14 points along with four blocks, was perhaps the best of all. Hoke County has not done well against Pinecrest recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hoke County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-56 win over Pinecrest. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Hoke County.
Hoke County's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Darius Breeden, who scored 19 points, and Salah Sutton, who scored 23 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Sutton is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight.
Lee County has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Hoke County, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Lee County hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 55.1 points per game. However, it's not like Hoke County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 55.2 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
