Baseball Recap: Box Elder Comes Up Short

Box Elder had lost five straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it six. They fell just short of the Roy Royals by a score of 5-4. The Bees were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Royals earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Box Elder got a good showing from Jensen Kennedy, who pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits.

At the plate, Kellen Kohler and Judd Howells stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kohler got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run, while Howells went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Roy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since May 8, 2024.

On Roy's side, their win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was James Cochran, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Connor Robinson was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Box Elder has already played their next contest, a 7-6 loss against Northridge on the 25th. As for Roy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 15-3 defeat against Clearfield on the 25th.
