Recap: Jefferson Dragons vs. Brandon Academy Scorpions
The Jefferson Dragons lost against the Brandon Academy Scorpions back in December of 2021, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Jefferson fell to Brandon Academy 56-52.
Despite the loss, Jefferson still got an impressive performance from Lazzaro Ford, who scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Hiraldo, who scored nine points.
Brandon Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shavon Birch, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 18 rebounds. Birch has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Hawes, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Jefferson has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Brandon Academy, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-12.
Jefferson will head out on the road to square off against Dunedin at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dunedin is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Brandon Academy, they will be playing at home against Foundation Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
