Basketball Recap: Clopton Takes Down Paris in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Clopton walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Paris Coyotes on Saturday as they made off with a 55-34 win. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Clopton was led to victory by Charleigh Spoonster and Ashlyn Noah. Spoonster shot 86% from beyond the arc on her way to 22 points along with seven assists and five steals, while Noah went 8-for-11 en route to 19 points. The dominant performance also gave Spoonster a new career-high in field goal percentage (78%). Another player making a difference was Rileigh Kuntz, who posted four points and five boards.

The victory (which was Clopton's sixth in a row) raised their record to 23-3. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.2 points on average over those games. As for Paris, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

As of now, neither Clopton nor Paris have any future games scheduled.
