Softball Recap: White River Snags Seventh Victory in Last Nine Games

White River won the last time they faced Jefferson and things went their way on Monday too. The Hornets blew past the Raiders 18-6. Considering the Hornets have won seven games by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Elliotte Kajita made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, White River got a massive performance out of Abby Akins, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kennedy Selander, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

White River has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Jefferson, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Looking ahead, White River will welcome Decatur at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Golden Gators will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Hornets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Jefferson, they will challenge Auburn Mountainview at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will need to watch out since the Lions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
