Baseball Game Preview: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Edison Chargers

The Columbian Tornadoes will square off against the Edison Chargers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Columbian came out on top against Sandusky on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Tornadoes took their game against the Blue Streaks 7-2. The victory continues a trend for the Tornadoes in their matchups with the Blue Streaks: they've now won nine in a row.

Jayce Arias was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Jamison Woessner was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Edison came tearing into Wednesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Crimson Flashes a 10-0 shutout. The Chargers not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 10-0).

Edison pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Columbian, their record now sits at 4-7.

Columbian couldn't quite get it done against Edison in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Tornadoes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
