Recap: J.F. Webb Warriors vs. Carrboro Jaguars
The J.F. Webb Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 87-81 hit to the loss column at the hands of Carrboro. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, J.F. Webb still got an impressive performance from Daniel Wright, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine assists. It was the first time this season that Wright posted eight or more assists. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Hester, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carrboro only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Carrboro's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brody Gagne, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bakari Watkins, who scored 20 points.
J.F. Webb dropped their record down to 2-18 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.3 points per game. As for Carrboro, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-10.
J.F. Webb will be playing in front of their home fans against American Leadership Academy-Johnston at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. American Leadership Academy-Johnston will be up against J.F. As for Carrboro, they will head out on the road to square off against Louisburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
