Softball Recap: South Beloit Sobos vs. Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders

South Beloit can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Ashton-Franklin Center Raiders 15-14. The victory was just what South Beloit needed coming off of an 11-0 defeat in their prior game.

Whitney Schnack made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up six earned (and eight unearned) runs off 12 hits (and not a single walk). Schnack has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Schnack was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Zorah Martin was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and a triple. Another player making a difference was Macey Lineman, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
