Football Recap: Chester Volcanoes vs. Burney Raiders

Chester was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 28-12 bruising from the Burney Raiders. The Volcanoes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September.

Despite the loss, Chester saw an underclassman step up: freshman Kevin Hughes picked up 64 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Hughes also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making seven total tackles and defending a pass.

Even if they lost, Chester's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Callan Wiseman with two. Another thorn in Burney's side was Dominic Stegall, who picked up a sack and made 11 total tackles.

Kyle Noah was his usual excellent self, rushing for 77 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 54 yards and two touchdowns for Burney. Cisco Chacon handled things on the ground, rushing for 89 yards.

Chester's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Burney, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.

Chester does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Burney has already played their next match, a 54-32 loss against Big Valley on the 8th.
