Ogden hasn't had much luck against Morgan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Ogden will face off against Morgan at 3:30 p.m. Morgan took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Ogden, who comes in off a win.
Ogden took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Ben Lomond 18-9. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by eight runs or more this season.
Kenzie George made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. George was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Ogden got a massive performance out of Aracely DeLeon, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that DeLeon hit this season. Mia Sugimoto was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Ogden always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Morgan didn't have quite enough to beat Grantsville on Tuesday and fell 8-7. The Trojans haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
Kassidy Wardell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Hardman, who went 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Morgan's defeat dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Ogden, their record now sits at 4-5.
Ogden's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Ogden has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Morgan, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Ogden continue to outrun the ball?
Ogden might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Morgan in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Ogden avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
