Preview: Coshocton Redskins vs. River View Black Bears

The Coshocton Redskins will head out on the road to face off against the River View Black Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coshocton has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 152 points over their last three matchups.

Coshocton missed an extra point against West Muskingum on Friday and it came back to haunt them. Coshocton and West Muskingum were almost perfectly matched up, but Coshocton suffered an agonizing 57-56 loss. While losing is never fun, Coshocton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 455th, while West Muskingum is ranked 194th).

Coshocton's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Riley Woodie, who rushed for 132 yards and four touchdowns, and Antwone Johns who rushed for 133 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry. Johns was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Rice, who rushed for 119 yards on only 12 carries.

Meanwhile, River View's eight-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Maysville 57-56. River View's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.

River View's victory bumped their season record to 1-8 while Coshocton's defeat dropped theirs to 2-7.

Coshocton was dealt a bruising 41-12 defeat at the hands of River View in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Coshocton avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
