Softball Recap: Batavia Bulldogs vs. Wheaton North Falcons

Batavia extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 6-19 in the process. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wheaton North Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-5 two weeks ago.

As for Wheaton North, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games.

For Wheaton North's part, Makayla Grantz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Grantz has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Crosthwaite and Abby Del Preto did most of the damage at the plate: Crosthwaite went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double, while Del Preto went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, Wheaton North will face off against rival Wheaton-Warrenville South at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Falcons 3.1, the Tigers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
